Have you ever met someone that annoyed the shit out of you with their happiness? Seeing their healthy vibe and smiley faces can feel antagonizing when you’re sulking in your misery. Like, how dare these happy people come into my personal space, bring their positivity and helpful attitude into my life, and wreck my melancholic despair shrouding my empty, hopeless soul.

Ok, maybe I’m being a little dramatic, but if you are unhappy. I might not be too far off from that perspective. However, most humans strive to be happy and want to enjoy life’s journey and discover all it offers. If we really think about it, life has a lot that we can benefit from. We just have to find it.

However, contrary to popular belief, happy people aren’t happy by accident. Like everything else in life, they have to work hard at it. It doesn’t just come for free, which is a relief because it means we can work on ourselves and have a shot at turning this frown upside down.

Because not everyone does, and it’s a torturous and miserable feeling for those who struggle, which can’t even be put into words how much it sucks.

Benefitting from quality sleep helps you feel energized and focused throughout the day, so you can make the most of it when you have time to sit down and focus. Sleep deprivation often causes brain fog – meaning tasks take longer, work becomes more arduous, and concentration is elusive and ultimately leads you to be an unhappy individual that makes you feel like a pile of shit all of the time.

A solid bedtime routine also encourages healthier habits that contribute to your happiness. Sleep can even help you stay emotionally balanced – without it, minor issues become magnified and challenging to think through, which can get frustrating as sleep deprivation continues.

So don’t turn into a Karen, and ensure you get some sleep. Everyone is different in how much sleep they need to operate. However, it’s typically between 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night that most adults need. So listen to your body, especially those eyelids, and get on a sleep schedule and be consistent with it. You’ll be much happier about it.
